Edelweiss Estate
Founded by German settlers around 1900, taken over by British administration after World War II and bought by Mr. BN Vohora in 1969, Edelweiss Estate is now run by a third generation coffee family business. Located at the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and surrounded by indegenous forrests it stretches from 1,650 - 1,820 meters above sea level. Natural forest canopy shades the coffee trees.
As the farm is located in a very remote region in Northern Tanzania, the Vohora family aims to engage with the whole surrounding community. They run various sustainability projects to support the local community and protect the natural environment. They provide apprenticeships at the farm, support local schools and founded nurseries for their employees‘ children. The farm shares a green border with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As a result elephants and buffalos cross the coffee plantation on a regular basis, challenging the farm and its delicate trees.
