Tanzania Single Origin

Info

Trees are grown in 1,000 to 2,500 meters above sea level on the mountainous slopes under the shade of banana trees.

Arabica coffee makes up to 70% of the total country’s production. Robusta is mainly grown west of Lake Victoria in 800 to 900 meters above sea level in the Kagera region. The major share of coffee is produced by smallholder farmers where coffee itself can at least be tracked back to washing station. Only about 10% of total production comes from larger estates such as the Machare Estate in the Kilimanjaro region.

Tanzanian coffees tend to be pleasant in aroma, rich in acidity and body. Their sweet taste is enriched through balanced flavors thanks to mineral nutrients from volcanic soils.
